Carrots have been the big project in Mrs. Schumann's 6th grade. Part of the ancient Egypt unit the class mummified carrots! 🥕
For six weeks, they have had carrots buried in salt weighing them each week to measure moisture loss. After the six weeks they made a sarcophagus and wrapped their mummified carrots using oils, spices, and gauze. They also wrote obituaries about their carrot. 🥕
Questions to ask these students: How long was the mummification process? How much weight did your carrot lose? What spices were used to preserve your carrot? What information is included in an obituary?

Today the 7th Grade Family and Consumer Science Class made breakfast sandwiches! Some questions for these students are:

The 6th graders got the amazing opportunity to visit the Rust Mountain View Ranch to see the animals and watch bull auction sale. The class learned about cattle business and walked out to observe the bulls and heifers. Many picked out their favorite bull or heifer to watch. The auction was the most exciting part of the day, listening and watching bidders bid! Thanks to the Rust family for inviting us to their sale!
Question to ask these students:
What is the difference between commercial and purebred cattle?
What does it mean to be a yearling?
What qualities to you look for in a bull or heifer?
