Welcome!!

Welcome to the Turtle-Lake Mercer music department page! The purpose of music education is to help students become musically self-sufficient—capable of reading, writing, and creating music of their own—while also becoming thoughtful, conscious consumers of music in their everyday lives. Our goal is for students to leave their music education experience not only with strong musical skills but also with a lasting love and joy for music and music-making.

In our classroom, music is learned through playful, joyful, and purposeful activities. Students are not just participants; they are integral members of a vibrant musical community. Everyone—students and teacher alike—is constantly learning and growing together. The classroom is a safe space where creativity thrives, where students are encouraged to take risks, explore, and support one another. We celebrate each other’s successes and find inspiration in one another’s creativity.

At the Turtle Lake-Mercer Music Department, we spark curiosity by offering opportunities to explore diverse musical genres and experiences. We focus on developing technical skills and musical literacy through active engagement and problem-solving, empowering students to take ownership of their learning. Our positive environment fosters independence, creativity, and collaboration, helping students become not only skilled musicians but also lifelong learners and productive, expressive citizens.

About Mrs. Wyman

Hello! My name is Mrs. Kailee Wyman. I am a graduate from the University of Mary with a bachelor's degree in music education. This is my fourth year teaching at Turtle Lake-Mercer Public School.

I am originally from Wahpeton, ND. Music has been a passion of mine since 3rd grade when I started playing piano. In middle school, I started playing the clarinet and never stopped. I am also passionate about choir, musical theatre, dance, and above all, my students. I strive to provide a positive environment where every student feels successful.

When I am not busy playing music, you can find me with my family and friends. I enjoy the summer and spending my time outside in the sun. I like to swim, go for walks with my dog, and be on the water. During the winter I enjoy getting cozy and watching movies, reading, doing puzzles, and playing games.
