It's Homecoming Week! Classrooms doors are full of spirit! This year's theme is "Breakfast of Champions"! Make sure to join us on Friday for all the festivities! Parade at 1:00, Pep Rally at 2:00, and game at 7:00! Dance at TLM following the game for grades 7-12, admission is $5.00, dance ends at 11:30.

This morning our Homecoming Week Greeters were Cross Country and Cheer! They were in the lobby welcoming TL-M students as they entered the building today!

Today in 5th grade, we made ice cream! We are studying all about states of matter in science and this activity taught us how applying energy (cold) to a state matter (liquid) can change it into a different state. Into a small ziplock bag we measured cream, milk, sugar, and flavored extract and then added the sealed bag to a larger bag of ice. Adding course salt to the ice made it even colder (my salt was pink Himalayan hence the pink color). A little food coloring and lots of bag churning and we eventually ended up with the “solidification” of our liquid into ice cream!
Questions to ask your student:
What was the hardest part about making the ice cream?
What flavor did your group make?
What energy force caused the liquid to change to a solid?

The 2024 Central McLean Cougar Homecoming Parade will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 20th. We are still in need of some people willing to drive the Homecoming Kings and Queens from all three schools in the parade. If you or someone you know has a convertible to drive these students, that would be greatly appreciated. Another option that was thought of was to transport the Kings and Queens in golf carts. If you would be willing to drive either of these options, please reach out to Mr. Ziebarth.
Also, Community Floats are welcome in the parade. Parade lineup will be in the school parking lot with a start time of 1:00 PM.

Coronation was held today! Congratulations to our 2024-25 Homecoming King, Wyatt Wagner, & Queen, Sadie O'Shea.

Science experiment Friday in Kindergarten today! We did soda science using pop and mentos! We have been learning many science terms the last couple of weeks! We have used words like Hypothesis, Outcome, and materials!
Questions to ask: When doing a science experiment what is our first guess called?
What do we call what happens in the experiment when it’s over?

Special thanks for Mrs. Swanson's class for helping out with painting the numbers for tonight's home football game!

Thank you to everyone who attended! Question to ask these students: What were some notable experiences you heard about?

Congratulations to the 2024 Turtle Lake-Mercer Homecoming Court! Students in grades 7 through 12 were given the opportunity to vote for four young men and women to represent Turtle Lake-Mercer School. The candidates for Queen are: McKenna Faulkner, Irie Irwin, Mya Kittler, and Sadie O'Shea. The candidates for King are: Andrew Eichhorst, Morgan Maxwell, Karson Rust, and Wyatt Wagner. Two first grade students were randomly drawn to be the crown bearers. Olivia Berndt and James Schwalk are the lucky students chosen. The students will vote for King and Queen later this week. Homecoming Coronation will take place at 2:15 PM on September 16th in the Ed Rath Auditorium at Turtle Lake-Mercer School. All are welcome to attend.

Just a reminder for student drop-off (8:00-8:30) and pick-up (3:15) all vehicles dropping off and picking up students should be using the front row of the student parking lot and then following the sidewalk to enter through door 2. We ask that all vehicles follow this same procedure regardless of the presence of a school bus. Thank you for your cooperation!

The 2024 Central McLean Cougar Homecoming Parade is Friday September 20th at 1:00 PM in Turtle Lake. It has been tradition to have the Homecoming Kings and Queens from each of the three schools ride in a special vehicle in the parade. If you have a vehicle that would be great for transporting kings and queens in the parade, contact Mr. Ziebarth at the school.
