Today our TL-M staff highlight is Mr. Kurt Ziebarth. Mr. Ziebarth is our PreK - 12 principal. This is his thirteenth year at TL-M. This summer his family went to the Wisconsin Dells; they had a great time and had lots of fun on the waterslides! This year he is looking forward to reflecting on last year's experience as a new principal to improve his capacity as a leader and advocate for our students and families. He is going to "Make it Count" by being more present in the hallways and in classrooms this year. Thank you, Mr. Ziebarth, for all you do for the students and staff at TL-M, we appreciate your leadership!

Mrs. Voth is offering an opportunity for 4th-6th grade girls and boys to try out cross country this fall! This will be run similar to dance and is not a school activity. There will be a parent meeting on Tuesday, August 29th at 5:00 in the school lobby, please use door #2.

Today our featured staff member is Mr. Paul Buchholz. Mr. Buchholz teaches Agricultural Education and is our FFA advisor. This is his 5th year at TL-M. This summer they bought a house north of Turtle Lake! This year he is looking forward to teaching engines to his students. He is going to "Make it Count" this year by "FFA Domination!". Thank you, Mr. B, for being a part of our TL-M and teaching career and tech education to our students!

Today we are highlighting Mrs. Jessica Anderson! Mrs. Anderson is our PreKindergarten teacher and Reading Strategist. She has been at TL-M for 15 years! This summer she enjoyed spending time outside with her family camping, fishing, working in the garden, and taking care of their farm animals. The best part of her summer was spent preparing for the arrival of baby #3 who is due in November! This school year she is looking forward to implementing all that she learned last year in her LETRS training (Language Education for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). She noted this training is based on the Science of Reading and how kids' brains learn to read. "It was fascinating!" she shared. This year she is going to "Make it Count" by cherishing every moment and trying to stay present wherever she is. Thank you, Mrs. Jessica Anderson, for being part of the TL-M and all you do to support the students and staff at TL-M!

Thank you to Faith Hahn who donated snacks to the elementary classrooms through Thrivent Financial. This another great example of all the great things the communities of Turtle Lake and Mercer do to make TL-M a great place to be!

Thank you to Dakota West Credit Union! They provided snow cones for all the Turtle Lake-Mercer students this afternoon. It was a wonderful treat for the first day of school!

Our 7th graders taught the 6th graders how to put up the flag in the morning and how to properly fold the flag at the end of each day. We are proud of this tradition at TL-M! A big thank you to the 7th grade for teaching the new 6th graders!

Today is the first day of the 2023-24 school year! Starting today we will be featuring a TL-M staff member every day until we get through all 40! Today we would like to introduce Laura Fiedler our school secretary. Laura is starting her 6th year at TL-M. This summer she went camping and boating with family and friends over the 4th of July. She is looking forward to seeing the students grow throughout the year and she is going to "Make it Count" this year by starting each day with a smile and good attitude! Thank you for being a part of our TL-M team, Laura, we are glad you are here!
