Kindergarten played sentence headbands today. One student read the sentence while the other had to write it. Questions to ask!
1. What does a sentence have to begin with
2. How many finger spaces between words?
3. What should a sentence end with?
The 8th grade Earth Science class has been learning about natural disasters, specifically earthquakes. Each student made a presentation on a historic earthquake and viewed their classmates' presentation through a gallery walk activity. Here are some questions you can ask the students about this unit:
1. What type of plate boundaries do earthquakes occur at?
2. What is the instrument called that records the motion of the ground during an earthquake?
3. What earthquake did you research, and what is the most interesting fact you found while researching?
Mrs. Schumann's 6th graders celebrated Reading Month with an Iditarod themed reading challenge called the IditaREAD. Instead of mushing our way to Nome we read books and articles. We celebrated everyone finishing with prizes, pizza, and a movie.
It's been a long time, but Fun Friday made it's return today! Miss Klein was the winner of a $10 gift card. The song was Don't Stop Believing by Journey! Congratulations, Miss Klein!
Miss Anderson's 1st graders worked with Main Street Market to design and give reasons why their donut should be sold at Main Street Market. The donut that receives the most votes will be created at Main Street Market. Questions to ask: What did you name your donut? Why should people vote for your donut?
Mrs. B’s Clothing & Textiles class has been working on bucket hats. A couple a questions to ask these students are:
-What are the steps for cutting the hat?
-What are the steps in sewing the hat?
-What is top stitching?

Mrs. Christensen's 5th grade students are working on writing a fictional narrative. Some are about being lost in the woods, battles with dragons, or events in a war! Ask your student who their main character is, what their hook is, and if their story is in first or third person.
Mrs. Schumann's 6th graders have been learning about Ancient Egypt. They recently made Egyptian masks. Questions to ask: What is the mummification process? What was placed in the tombs with the body?
Kindergarten had a mystery reader Thursday. Kelly Murray read two books and answered many questions about her job! Questions to ask: Where does Kelly work? What book was your favorite that she read?
Girls currently in grades 3 - 6 are bringing home information for summer basketball skills. Mr. Ziebarth and Mrs. Slavik met with Juli Smith, MS, LPCC of Northland Health Centers today. She is offering behavioral health services and is in Turtle Lake on Thursdays. She met with us today to make a connection with our community and get information about the services she can offer out to our TL-M families.

Turtle-Lake Mercer FFA chapter will not be attending the Killdeer Winter CDE contest tomorrow due to bad weather.
The Washburn Lions Carnival is Saturday, March 18th from 3PM-6PM. Kids are welcome to come join in bingo, carnival games, cotton candy, face painting, inflatables, food and homemade pies. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders can get 3 free tickets at the door. The event is at the Washburn Memorial Building on Main Street in Washburn.

2nd grade did a classroom transformation with March Madness. Students did various activities throughout the day based around basketball. Questions to ask your student: 1. What was your favorite activity you did today and why? 2. Which book won the March Madness book tournament?
