The 8th grade Earth Science class has been learning about natural disasters, specifically earthquakes. Each student made a presentation on a historic earthquake and viewed their classmates' presentation through a gallery walk activity. Here are some questions you can ask the students about this unit: 1. What type of plate boundaries do earthquakes occur at? 2. What is the instrument called that records the motion of the ground during an earthquake? 3. What earthquake did you research, and what is the most interesting fact you found while researching?

Mrs. Schumann's 6th graders celebrated Reading Month with an Iditarod themed reading challenge called the IditaREAD. Instead of mushing our way to Nome we read books and articles. We celebrated everyone finishing with prizes, pizza, and a movie.

The Washburn Lions Carnival is Saturday, March 18th from 3PM-6PM. Kids are welcome to come join in bingo, carnival games, cotton candy, face painting, inflatables, food and homemade pies. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders can get 3 free tickets at the door. The event is at the Washburn Memorial Building on Main Street in Washburn.
