Mrs. Laib's 8th graders have been working hard on their time capsules, which is an English class tradition. The time caosules will be kept in the English room until their last day of school as seniors, when they will be opened. Today, they followed directions on how to wrap a box, and then wrote notes to all their classmates. Questions to ask these students: What items did you included in your time capsule and why did you choose these items?

Today our TL-M staff highlight is Mrs. Maria Freeman. Mrs. Freeman is our 2nd grade teacher! This is her second year at TL-M. This summer she took a road trip to Yellowstone and Banff with her husband, brother, and sister-in-law. They went on many hikes, white water rafting, and rock climbing. She also had a big garden this summer and learned to do some canning. This year she is looking forward to having a small class and getting to know her students even more! She had this class as part of her student teaching experience so she is excited to see how much they have grown and changed since kindergarten. This year she is going to "Make IT Count" by creating memorable learning experiences with her students that she hopes will be part of the conversation around the dinner table this year and for years after her students leave her classroom! Mrs. Anderson's 4th and 5th grade reading students worked on a project about “connections” this week. We read a story about making connections with people and then we created our own hexagon chain. Each student had to draw/write about their hobby, favorite school subject, etc. Then we connected our hexagons where there were similarities. Things to ask your student: What was the challenging part of this project that required good teamwork? How is our class like a family?
