Mrs. Freeman’s 2nd grade had a doctor classroom transformation day and a visit from Dr. Kaitlyn Wirtz. She came and talked about what she does for our community along with some of the tools she uses daily. Questions to ask your student: 1. Who is Kaitlyn and what does she do for our community? 2. How do you use a stethoscope and what is it used for?

Today was college application day for TL-M seniors! 4 seniors participated in our event this year allowing them each to get a free application to the North Dakota College or University of their choice! With students beginning to fill out applications also comes thinking about scholarships and financial aid. As students and families start thinking about paying for post-secondary pathways, don't forget about Counselors Corner on our TLM website! There you can find lots of scholarship applications (some due at the end of October!) as well as resources to help navigate and complete the FAFSA!

The TL-M 5th grade students went to Lake Metigoshe State Park for a field trip in the end of September. They had a great time doing wonderful activities in the Outdoor Learning Center.

Last week the 8th and 9th grade classes had a chance to participate in the T4 career summit at Bismarck State College. Each class had the opportunity to learn about 4 different career pathways related to trades and/or technology. The 8th grade class attended sessions where they learned about heavy equipment operating, career opportunities through John Deere, carpentry, and what its like to be an auto technician. The 9th graders learned about career opportunities through Butler Machinery, coding and PLCs, HVAC, and jobs in road construction. Some questions to ask your students about this experience include: - What was the most interesting career you learned about? - Do you think you might consider going into any of the careers/career areas you learned about?

TL-M teachers, administration, and CREA staff engaged in Learning Walks today to focus on peer to peer feedback! Our teachers and our students made us all so proud today! Great things are happening in our TL-M classrooms!

Grades K-6 enjoyed presentations today from “Sam Ting” and “Darin Ewe”. Thank you South McLean County Soil Conservation District for sponsoring this fun learning opportunity.

Thank you to St. Olaf Church for donating 38 boxes of kleenex to our classrooms!!

Fifth grade is researching information for an informative writing paper. They are taking notes, paraphrasing, and citing resources. Questions to ask:  What topic are you researching? What sources have you used to research? What does paraphrase mean?

We’ve had some beautiful weather so far, but looking ahead to Thursday and Friday we have 40 and 50 degree temperatures. Please make sure to send outdoor gear with your child this week. Warm shoes, coats, hats, and light gloves would all be appropriate for this time of year to send with your child. Thank you for planning ahead and making sure your child is prepared for cooler temperatures!

Tomorrow is HOMECOMING! Show your Cougar pride by wearing your homecoming shirt or cougar colors! Parade is at 1:00, Pep Rally at 2:00, Football game at 7:00, and dance until 11:30 (doors lock at 10:00). Good luck, Cougars!!🧡💙🏈

The 8th grade Earth Science class just finished their solar system unit project. They presented information about their planets and made models of them. Some questions you can ask the 8th graders are: 1. How many Earth years does it take your planet to revolve around the Sun? 2. What is your planet made out of?

Freshmen English did a Give One Get One activity in English after reading the short novel, "The Call of the Wild". They were sharing their ideas on the characters' survival skills in the book. Questions to ask your student: 1) Who was the character that had the best survival skills and why? 2) What did the author think was the best survival characteristics to have and how do you know this is how he felt?

8th grade English students made Rorshach ink blots as an activity to go along with a short story we are reading in class called, "Flowers for Algernon". Please ask your students: 1) What is an ink blot test? 2) How does it relate to the story they are reading in class?
