Our staff highlight of the day is Miss Paige Gould!  Miss Gould is our 3rd grade teacher.  She is in her first year at TL-M.  One thing she is proud of that she did this summer is she started her Masters in Early Childhood Education and completed her first 4 classes of the program with A's!  This year she is looking forward to teaching a new grade and getting to know the students and staff at TL-M!  This year she is going to "Make IT Count" by building positive relationships with students and encouraging students to do their best with everything they do inside and outside of the classroom.  Thank you, Miss Gould, for being part of our TL-M team!  We appreciate you!!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Britton! She is the first TL-M student to enter the Million Word Club this year. Students who read 1 Million words during the school year will get a certificate and Million Word Club shirt at the end of the school year. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to Inaia Way and Royce Wardner for being selected to participate in this year’s Northwest International Festival of Music in Minot! Inaia will be playing trumpet in the symphony band and Royce will be singing in the Nova Choir. The festival takes place on November 3-4 at Minot State University.

Our staff highlight of the day is Ms. Susan Davis.  Susan has been the business manager at TL-M for the last 12 years.! This summer she enjoyed taking care of the flowers she planted.  She is looking forward to seeing all the students come back and seeing how much they've grown over the summer.  She is going to "Make IT Count" by doing her part to continue the great atmosphere that has been created here at the TL-M school!  Thank you, Susan, for all you do!  We appreciate you!

Mrs. Laib's 7th hour Study Skill classes are solving a digital escape room to work on reading and following directions skills.  Questions to ask: How easy was it to 'skip directions' if they thought they knew what to do?  What was the hardest part of the escape room?





Our staff highlight of the day is Ms. Hannah Gilseth.  Ms. Gilseth is our 1st grade teacher, this is her first year at TL-M.  This summer she enjoyed going to the lake with her daughter, she also started her Masters program in Early Childhood Education.  This year she is looking forward to getting to know her students and the Turtle Lake - Mercer communities.  She is going to "Make IT Count" by building relationships with her students.  She hopes to create a safe and loving environment for her students.  Thank you, Ms. Gilseth for being part of our TL-M team!  We appreciate you!!

Kindergarten and the Freshman got to carve pumpkins today. They also measured how tall and how round they were. They counted the seeds and learned how to estimate! Questions to ask:
1. How many seeds did your pumpkin have?
2. Did your pumpkin float?

10 sixth graders and Mrs. Wyman attended the annual “Surround the State in Song” festival in Bismarck today. “Surround The State In Song” is a festival that happens at seven North Dakota locations all on the same day with involvement from area schools. The students rehearsed songs and practiced all day, ending with a concert for the public.




Yesterday the 6th grade class went to all the elementary classrooms and sang a song for them. They have been working on a choir unit during music to prep the for Junior High and learned four 2-part choir songs. 
Questions to ask your student: Was it hard to learn choir music? Were you nervous to perform and why? How do you stand and perform in a choir? Would you consider joining choir next year?




Today our staff highlight is Mrs. Bridget Willis.  Bridget is starting her 2nd year as a paraprofessional at TL-M.  This summer she went on a vacation to Itasca State Park in MN.  Her family also rode horse, fished, and swam.  This year she is looking forward to growing relationships with both students and teachers and watching the students grow over the year!  This year she is going to "Make IT Count" by showing up and giving it her all every day.  Thank you, Bridget, for being part of our TL-M team.  We appreciate you!!

For the first two weeks of October Mrs. Anderson's PreK students have been learning about Fire safety 🔥 in PreK. They even had a visit from a real firefighter. Thanks Mr. Z! Questions to ask:
What do firefighters wear to protect themselves?
What should you do if your clothes catch fire?
What should kids do around hot stoves and camp fires?
What should you do if you find matches or a lighter?



Today our staff highlight of the day is Mrs. Lana Clyde!  Mrs. Clyde is our Speech/Language Pathologist and is in her 2nd year at TL-M.  This summer she spent time with her family at the lake.  She attended the Kenny Chesney concert in Grand Forks and Pink concert in Fargo.  She's also been teaching her daughter how to drive!  This year she is looking forward to working with all her students from last year, and getting to know them better.  She is going to "Make IT Count" by keeping the kids motivated by having fun in speech, and making the most out of each session.  Thank you, Mrs. Clyde, for being part of our TL-M team!  We appreciate all you do!!!
